BEING CHOSEN
BEING CHOSEN
It is hard times,
In the time of the prophets there were nations that "God" favored above others. But that did not stop god for taking it out on his chosen ones when he thought they were getting out of line, albeit, at times with some prior warning. Now that the god is out of the business of such choosing and playing favoritism, and ther are no prophets, we are only left to our own assumptions that who may or may not be the god's favorite children.
As the nations go, today there is a list of these contenders, The Saudis, the Iranians and of course the United States think they have been chosen by god to pick up the mantel. I am not taking sides, since many of His previous favorites ended up with plagues on their houses also.

RULING THRU FEAR
RULING THRU FEAR
Remember when Saddam was the new Hitler, and probably A Stalin and a few others. We had to attack him, contain him, take care of him, he was the most dangerous person in the world, he even had some thing we started to call WMDs. It was a scary time, we did not even begin to understand what in the heck was a WMD other than that is was dangerous, we were scared, we cowered, we went to war against Saddam to get rid of his WMDs. Never mind that the gas he used to suffocate and kill so many was provided to him by us, back in the day when he was our friend and fighting the ones we wanted him to get rid of.
The terrorists used planes to kill 3000 of our country men. They are also dangerous people, people who have murder on their minds, they want to kill Americans. What if they get a hold of nuke?
The leaders of forty nations met in Washington this week to make sure that the terrorists don't get a hold of a nuke, or may be highly enriched Uranium etc. To make a nuke so they can kill a whole lot of us. BUt what is the reality?
Unless you are a Robert Spencer, or a Rush Limbaugh listener, tell me something. Please, how easy is it to make a nuke? A functioning atom bomb? Last I checked the Libyan government had tried for thirty years, with all their oil money and state resources, they even had the cheat sheet from the illustrious A.Q. Khan of Pakistan. A.Q. Khan had apparently also given his recipe to the Iranians and North Koreans. Iran is still working on it.
They say that given the basic material, like highly enriched Uranium, the terrorists could put together a bomb in six month. Don't mind me if I sound suspicious. What do the terrorists know that many national governments do not? do they have better resources? intelligence? money? Technology? Or is it an attempt to make something out of nothing?
If it is so easy for the terrorists to get a bomb or to make one , should we not be worried about rogue governments getting bombs that are ready made , what about the drug lords who seem to have a lot more money, why not your local mafia, everyone could get in on the act.
Should we try to control the trade transport and possession of nuclear material, of course we should, but to tell the public that the nukes are coming? Why? Why? Don't you think people already have enough to worry about, and that we are giving the loony fringe some more to worry over? Is it O.k. for the government to scare people out of their wits?
IN fact, for years there have been rumors, (facts as stated by Robert Spencer and others) that the terrorists have 20 to fifty nuclear bombs already in place in this country, why would they even bother to get any new ones, they could already destroy the country, and what in the heck are they waiting for?

DESTROYING DEMOCRACY V
DESTROYING DEMOCRACY V
For a very long time I have protested the breakdown of the moral and social fabric of the society. This is not advancement, sexualization of society in all manners and with no holds barred is not only destroying our families, our children, our education systems it threatens the very continuation of our system as in while the revenues are decreasing the need for social services of all kinds keep increasing.
I know this guy, for real, who goes out and buys cigarettes for his girl friend and her ex boy friend whenever her ex boy friend comes to spend the night with her while this guy goes to work. There is a word for this!At the very least we can look for his own mental breakdown or worse, some day, some one could be physically harmed.
MSNBC.com
Girl, 15, gang raped outside school dance while witnesses film horror attack
Whie one could assumed that the girls in the two stories are black, judging from the location of the incidents, but the guy in the first sstory, and the others involved are white.
Here in these cases we can also assume that the all involved are poor or near poor and a burden on the social and justice systems, the cost of the trials, convictions and then incarcerations if any could easily run into millions. And all this at a time where many with jobs who are struggling to feed their families and to keep their homes out of foreclosures will be asked to pay more taxes to support the failed society.

A REQUIEM FOR THE LIVING
Thanks for coming , to show you care
to let me go out, with a bit of flair
you made the show, to show your love
to give your respect, to the god above
so thanks for coming, here today
to be here to hear, this dead man say
I lived a good life, now i am happy to go
where ever it takes me, i'll be happy you know
This pain and the suffering, all fading away
I'm going on now, you may wish to stay
We live forever, this death i do not fear
the longer i lived, the more i find it dear
this death is my freedom, it is my salvation
the room to breathe, end this damnation
Some love life, nothing wrong i'm sure
I look forward to dying, not scared any more
There is no difference, I do not believe
just wanting to see, what's up His sleeve
Life goes on, the life is forever
on this small earth, or where ever
This life is not always, what we like it to be
this life is a chain, I like to be free
Living this life, of borrowed time
i have no sins, i have no crimes
A puppet of time, we are here to play
bit parts on stage, while we stay
Pauper or prophet, or a royal prince
a jester, a joker, not even a king
Born to die, as we are born to live
we all come to pass, we don't mean a thing
Some live to be forty, some die at four
some live to be ninety, still wanting for more
So what is a right age, to die
so one may know, when to say good bye
I do not go on, to make someone cry
I welcome my passing, welcome a new life
Why is not proper, to be on the ready
dying with grace, and rock steady
as for me i know, this is time to go
i go with a smile, and a happy glow
don't want to be beholden, not even to gods
i wish to go on, to be free at last
to see all the sky, to see the universe
to ask the good lord, of this life's curse
some may want, another day to live
some years or eons, never to give
the other side, a chance to show
it is better above, than has been below
Does anyone know, what tomorrow may hold
idea is stupid, on which we are sold
Do we arrive, at pearly gates
do we know, if the devil awaits
there is no heaven, there is no hell
not as far, as i can tell
We are born to die, so i have no fear
i always knew, that the end is near
you'll miss your love, you'll miss your kids
you'll miss their smiles, you'll miss their kiss
how can you miss, you are always here
life pulls us apart, death brings us near
Some wish to live long, and see their children cry
some one day too long, and see their children die
and still begging to live, for one more day
clinging to life, and life slips away
So welcome dear mama, and good bye dear dad
it is my time to go, please don't be sad
good bye my daughters, good bye my son
you came here separate, i leave you as one
remember that life, is full of surprises
who fight the hardest, win the biggest prizes
Friends and lovers, i have ever seen
in far away places, i have ever been
i could not forget you, or i'll be remiss
so thinking of you, and i blow you a kiss
I am not afraid, I am not scared
i did much more, than many dared
I saw things, that few ever will see
i was a free spirit, now i set me free
I am not scared, to see it all end
always wanting to see, around the next bend

RELIGION AND REALITY
RELIGION AND REALITY
I was sitting next to Dr. Parkash, the subject the peace in the middle East. As you know I am very skeptical of the whole thing, the charade, the farce, whatever you call it. I thus stated that we need to re write the book, yes "THE BOOK". The idea is not new with me, I have thought about all of it for a long long time, and I have written my opinion in the matter. Here is a poem I wrote in 2002, it is included in my book.
- SIGNS
Come back around, we keep going in circles
one more time, take a different look
can you see that, we could be getting along
can you see that, we don't need the book
Don't you know, don't you want to know?
do you feel the desire, do you feel that pride
slopes of life are steep, 'tis easy to stumble
no need to fear, what you are feeling inside
bouncing along, we bump into each other
highways of life, strange this meeting place
life is ups and downs, life is straights and narrows
can you feel that power?, do you find it base
there is no fate, there are no karmas
there are no heavens in the outer space
there are no miracles, there are no signs
all that you hope for is, to die with grace

As it is , I have discussed the role of morality (or lack there of) in every thing, from our education system to family finances, to health care to mortgage foreclosures and pollution and global trade, including human trafficking elsewhere in this blog for years. And it is the so called "religious" organizations, administrations and regimes who end up being the worst culprits. We do bad when we say we are doing good, we hide behind the religious "hijabs", when we are the worst offenders of human rights and global pollution. If we get away from the religious cover and stay with the facts we can easily see.
Philosopher: Why we should ditch religion
(CNN) -- For the world to tackle truly important problems, people have to stop looking to religion to guide their moral compasses, the philosopher Sam Harris told CNN.
"We should be talking about real problems, like nuclear proliferation and genocide and poverty and the crisis in education," Harris said in a recent interview at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California. TED is a nonprofit group dedicated to "ideas worth spreading."
"These are issues which tremendous swings in human well-being depend on. And it's not at the center of our moral concern."
Religion causes people to fixate on issues of less moral importance, said Harris, a well-known secularist, philosopher and neuroscientist who is the author of the books "The End of Faith" and "Letter to a Christian Nation."
"Religion has convinced us that there's something else entirely other than concerns about suffering. There's concerns about what God wants, there's concerns about what's going to happen in the afterlife," he said.
"And, therefore, we talk about things like gay marriage as if it's the greatest problem of the 21st century. We even have a liberal president who ostensibly is against gay marriage because his faith tells him it's an abomination.
"It's completely insane."
Watch Harris' talk at the TED Conference
Harris also said people should not be afraid to declare that certain acts are right and others are wrong. A person who would spill battery acid on a girl for trying to learn to read, for instance, he said, is objectively wrong by scientific standards.
"It's not our job to not judge it and say, 'Well, to each his own. Everyone has to work out their own strategy for human fulfillment.' That's just not true," he said.
"There's people who are wrong about human fulfillment."
Harris placed no faith in the idea that Muslims and Christians will be able to put their differences aside and cooperate on global issues.

The mysterious case of the grey lady of Bagram , Cont'd.
The mysterious case of the grey lady of Bagram
ISLAMABAD: Dr Shams Hassan Faruqi sits amid his rocks and geological records, shakes his bearded head and stares at me. “I strongly doubt if the children are alive,” he says. “Probably, they have expired.” He says this in a strange way, mournful but resigned, yet somehow he seems oddly unmoved. As a witness, supposedly, to the mysterious 2008 re-appearance of Aafia Siddiqui – the “most wanted woman in the world”, according to former US attorney general John Ashcroft – I guess this 73-year-old Pakistani geologist is used to the limelight. But the children, I ask him again. What happened to the children?
Dr Faruqi is Aafia Siddiqui’s uncle and he produces a photograph of his niece at the age of 13, picnicking in the Margalla hills above Islamabad, a smiling girl in a yellow shalwar khameez, half-leaning against a tree. She does not look like the stuff of which Al-Qaeda operatives are made. Yet she is now a semi-icon in Pakistan, a country which may well have been involved in her original kidnapping and which now oh-so-desperately wants her back from an American prison. Her children, weirdly, disconcertingly, have been forgotten.
Aafia Siddiqui’s story is now as famous in Pakistan as it is notorious in a New York City courtroom where her trial for trying to kill an American soldier in the Afghan city of Ghazni in 2008 – she was convicted this month and faces a minimum of 20 years in prison on just one of the charges against her – is regarded as a symbol of American injustice. “Shame on America,” posters scream in all of Pakistan’s major cities. She is known as the “grey lady of Bagram”, supposedly tortured for five years in America’s cruel Afghan prison. President Asif Ali Zardari has asked American envoy Richard Holbrooke to repatriate Siddiqui under the Pakistan-US prisoner exchange scheme, while the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has dubbed her a “daughter of the nation”. Opposition leader Nawaz Sharif promises to demand her release. But none of them mention the children. Ahmed, Sulieman and Maryam are their names.
Ahmed was returned to Pakistan from Afghanistan in 2008, but Dr Faruqi tells me he doesn’t believe for a moment that it is Aafia Siddiqui’s son. “He came here to stay with me, but he said he didn’t know Aafia until he was taken to Ghazni. He said to me: ‘I was in the big earthquake in Afghanistan and my brothers and sisters were killed in their home while I was out fetching water – that’s what saved my life.’ He told me that after the earthquake, he was put in an orphanage in Kabul. He was shown a photograph of my niece Aafia and said he did not know this lady, that he had never seen her before. Then he was taken to Ghazni and told to sit next to this woman – my niece. The boy is intelligent. He is simple. He is honest.”
All such mysteries require a “story-so-far”. It goes like this. Aafia Siddiqui, a 38-year-old neuroscientist, an MIT alumna and Brandeis university PhD, disappeared after leaving her sister’s home for Karachi airport in 2003, taking Ahmed, Sulieman and Maryam with her. The Americans say she was a leading Al-Qaeda operative. So does her ex-husband. She had re-married Ammar al-Baluchi, currently in Guantanamo Bay, a cousin of Ramzi Yousef who was convicted for the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing. Not, you might, say, a healthy curriculum vitae in the West’s obsessive “war on terror”. In 2004, the UN identified her as an Al-Qaeda operative.
But released inmates from the notorious American prison at Bagram near Kabul– where torture is commonplace and at least three prisoners have been murdered – have stated that there was a woman held there, a woman whose nightly screams prompted them to go on hunger strike. She was dubbed the “grey lady of Bagram”. At her New York trial, Siddiqui demanded that Jewish members of the jury be dismissed, she fired her own defence lawyers who said she had become unbalanced after torture; Siddiqui blurted out that she had been tortured in secret prisons before her arrest. “If you were in a secret prison ... where children were murdered...” she said.
And so to the town of Ghazni, south of Kabul. It was here that Afghan police stopped her in 2008, carrying a handbag which supposedly contained details of chemical weapons and radiological agents, notes on mass casualty attacks on US targets and maps of Ghazni. American soldiers and FBI agents were summoned to question her and arrived in Ghazni without realising that Siddiqui was in the same room, sitting behind a curtain. According to their evidence, she managed to take one of their M-4 assault rifles and opened fire. She missed but was cut down by two bullets from a 9mm pistol fired by one of the soldiers. Hence the charges. Hence the conviction.
She wasn’t helped by an alleged statement by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed – the man who supposedly planned 9/11 and who is the uncle of her second husband, Ammar al-Baluchi – who claimed that Aafia Siddiqui was a senior Al-Qaeda agent. But then, he’d just been waterboarded 183 times in a month – which hardly makes his evidence, to use a phrase, water-tight.
The questions are obvious. What on earth was a Pakistani American with a Brandeis degree doing in Ghazni with a handbag containing American targets? And why, if her family was so fearful for her, didn’t they report her missing in 2003, go to the press and tell the story of the children? Ahmed – son of Siddiqui or Afghan orphan, depending on your point of view – is now staying with Siddiqui’s sister, Fauzia, in Karachi; but she refuses to let him talk to journalists. The Americans have shown no interest in him – even less in the other two, younger children. Why not?
It’s odd, to say the least, that Dr Faruqi also maintains that in 2008 – before the Ghazni incident – Aafia Siddiqui turned up at his home in the suburbs of Islamabad. “She was wearing a burqa and got out of the car, just outside here,” he says, pointing to the tree-lined street outside his office window. “I only caught sight of her once, and I said ‘You have changed your nose’. But it was her. We talked about the past, her memories, it was her voice. She said the ISI (the Inter-Services Intelligence) had let her come here. She wanted to get away, to go back to Afghanistan where she said the Taliban would protect her. She said that since her arrest, she knew nothing of her children. Someone told her they had been sent to Australia.”
More questions. If Siddiqui was a “ghost prisoner” in Afghanistan, how come she turned up at Dr Faruqi’s home in Islamabad? Why would she wear an Afghan “burqa” in the cosmopolitan capital of her own country? Why did she not talk more about her children? Why could she not show her face to her own uncle? Did she really come to Islamabad?
Fauzia Siddiqui is now touring Pakistan to publicise her sister’s “unfair” trial, her torture at the hands of Americans. Most of the Pakistan press have taken up her story with little critical attention to the allegations against her. She has become a proto-martyr, a martyr-in-being; if her story is comprehensible, it requires a willing suspension of disbelief. But America’s constant protestations of ignorance about her whereabouts before 2008 have an unhappy ring about them.
And the children? Rarely written about in Pakistan, they, too, in a sense, were “disappeared” from the story – until the Afghan President, Hamid Karzai, paid an uneasy visit to Pakistan this week and, according to Fauzia, told the Interior minister, Rehman Malik, that “the children of Aafia Siddiqui will be sent home soon”. Was Karzai referring to the other two children? Or to all three, including the “real” Ahmed? And if Aafia’s two/three children are in Afghanistan, where have they been kept? In an orphanage? In a prison? And who kept them? The Afghans? The Americans?—Dawn/The Independent News Service

DESTROYING DEMOCRACY IV
DESTROYING DEMOCRACY IV
Where do I start, the health care bill passed, and as I had predicted the sun still came up the next day, and as I had said before, the Republicans can't stop playing the race angle of our politics. Dividing the country is not the best policy, but there are advantages, especially if you are a politician, I have heard about threats and I am not amused, I fear for the country, I fear for my kids. Even though the same people who keep stoking the racist sentiments also tell their followers to keep calm while they do not stop the personal attacks and do not stop making politics in to personal attacks and name calling.
I hear Glenn Beck acknowledge that the mess we are in is not new but has been going on for thirty years, that pretty much covers the Reagan era also, I have been saying this since Reagan was still in the office.
It gets me, Information first printed in news paper 2/20/2003 check out this post.
I was at the window at the bank, the lady behind me was talking to the backer, the IRS is unconstitutional, the FED is unconstitutional, and the banker was agreeing, mind you we are at the branch of a major national bank. As I finished my business I turned to the banker and quietly told him, "if were not for the FED, your bank would not exist. He said, yes I know.
Here is the sad truth, in both its parts, remember, I promised you I will tell you the whole truth.
Early in 2006, I wrote to then President Bush and my Senator Shelby (then chairman of senate banking committee about the FED and the money, I followed up consistently, but no one was listening. Today we are paying the consequences and there is no end in sight.

CHANGES
Its the wind, and the river
and the times that always change
life is changes
like the change in the streams
I would have told you how
if i knew how it began
now the beginning of the end
is now beginning it seems
In my dreams I always held you
i held you close to my heart
and we are closer still
when I hold you in my dreams
even though i know now
that you are gone forever
even though forever
you are always in my dreams
and i would hold you forever
and I don't know if you care
and what good is love for
when the love isn't there
and i dare not say good bye
so much hurt that i don't dare
do i have to say good bye
just to show that i still care

DESTROYING DEMOCRACY III
DESTROYING DEMOCRACY III
While we are debating health care reform, we are mostly oblivious to the goings on in the rest of the world that foretell our own path, probably. We get our news form comedians, from Jon Stewart or Al Franken, from Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck, just who ever we thin agrees with our own point of view, that is if we even do pay attention to the news at all. Look again, the unrest in France, in Greece, in England, in Moscow, in Iceland, due to the "conservative" (what does that ever mean?) policies and the financial fiasco of the recent past. Could we not just get lucky? Are we not immune?
As I said after the markets fell in 2000, that the poor will have to work hard to make up the difference in the market values lost. We today face the same problem, only in 2000 the market value lost was in just trillions, now it is hundreds of trillions and some one has to make up the difference. If you have your eyes open you are seeing it happen, the budget cuts, and tax increases that you see today at the local and the state levels are about to hit the national, federal budgets with decreases in social security, medicare, medicaid, education all but the defense, intelligence and tax collections.
As the conservatives saying it is all Obama, and millions looking for someone to blame their misery on, it is easy to point fingers at the top chair. But we have all been a party to our own demise, we should have known it was coming, and should have been prepared, I had been warning before Obama ever took the seat.

DESTROYING DEMOCRACY II
DESTROYING DEMOCRACY II
Too be sure the health care needs changes, (read part one here) but to say that reform will save money, reduce deficits is a farce, with innovations in health care the costs of treatment will keep going up and in free market you can not induce price controls, and to pay less to the doctors and hospitals, arbitrarily will only impede the treatment and medical progress.
So what is the conservatives plan, without insurance or medicare medicaid you won't get treated, and with unemployment on the rise and wages stagnating you will be "SOL". Yes we can start with a clean slate and wait another twenty years for a compromise agreement. What the rallying conservatives do not understand is that no average person has enough money to buy insurance or be able to save enough money for a serious illness. In the meantime the premiums keep rising, I dare say that no one in the tea party has a family member that is seriously ill and needs help, of course a majority of the population does not, till that day comes.
We have problems, the cities are failing, the states are broke, the education system is broken and keeps producing illiterates, our colleges are full of unemployed under achievers, on Pell grants and student loans, we have unemployment out the wazoo and trade deficits, and all we are left to do is to bicker about the health care reform and if that alone will make us Communists. We have been on the road to Communism for a long long time, I warned about it many years ago.

DESTROYING DEMOCRACY
DESTROYING DEMOCRACY part one,
No foreign country could have brought us to this, no external power would have even dared. Today America is confused, lost and divided unsure of it's own future. Thirty seven years ago, America was a democracy, a beacon of freedom, where the negro could rise up and with the help of the whites win civil rights and equality, a factory worker could depend on a lifetime of well paid employment and health care and a retirement, could buy his own home, own a car and and raise a family. Heck even workers at Sears and J.C. Penny had life time jobs with benefits. Millionaires were few and far between and fat chance you were going to meet one, that is unless you were a cab driver, like me, in West Palm Beach, I was going to be an American.
Government was still responsible to the people, there was getting out of Vietnam, the Water Gate, and the Nixon impeachment, even after the Ohio University the government had relented. It is in this country that in 2003 I wrote, "whether you follow the Democratic policies or the Republican policies you always end up with the same results, destructive to the country and the society".
For those who are awake and are pondering the outcome of the health care vote on Sunday, relax, the sun will still come out on the Monday morning and no, no one will be there at your door to give you a mortal injection, no death panel will be assembled, yet. Most Americans had not even thought of the health care mess till about six months ago or so when the Republicans decided to defeat Obama, the uppity negro president. Yeah that's right.
Obama and the Democrats are hell bent on passing a health care bill, no matter how asinine, just to prove a point, and a great point it is too, for democracy, if Obama fails in passing this bill then the United States will not have a functioning presidency for the next two and half years, and that is just for starters.
I have been writing about health care since before Obama became the pres, and yes since this debate started
and since ,
the view being that the health care mess in too expensive and to unwieldy to be solved easily or simply, but a 2500 page plan it self is too big to simplify anything.
But here is another problem, in a discussion among equals, no matter how far apart has to be logical, when you come to the table for a discussion and punch holes in the other party's plan then you better have an equal and just as comprehensive a plan to offer as the alternative, so far what I have heard from the Republican side is that they want to stop Obama and then start over, where have these brilliant minds (read nags) been.

WOMEN, RIGHTS, AND THE ECONOMIC REALITIES
WOMEN, RIGHTS, AND THE ECONOMIC REALITIES
UNITED NATIONS: Describing the subjugation of women as a threat to American security, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a passionate plea on Friday to give equal rights to women around the world.
Once again, I am faced with reality versus wishful thinking, and the reality bites. It is OK to dream, as in when you are sleeping, or may be on drugs, but when you are talking "real life" it is advisable not to be hallucinating.
Time, and time again, I have shown where our actions are not in coherence with our objectives. World wide our economic goals have been to produce at the cheapest cost, to purchase from the lowest bidder, and to pay nothing more than lip services to all else.Where ever the jobs have been transferred to women, the wages have dropped, as the labor pools expands (due to the inclusion of women in the worker pool). Also men become more and more economically dependent on the woman's earnings. True that an economically independent woman should be less threatened by the man abusing her in a relationship, but that has not been the case in the so called Western societies. On the other hand many a man has become dependent on the woman to be the provider and used and abused her financially and physically if she failed.
The true Islam itself provides for the economic freedom of the woman, it was first to grant a woman a share of inheritance from her parents, it allowed, even promoted woman's education in all subjects, allowed for women to be in business and trade, a woman was to receive a special present or a sum of money as part of her marriage vows, she was to receive a generous share of her husband's estate upon his death, and an alimony in case of a divorce. If women have been abused and made chattel of their families and husbands it is not the fault of Islam but the people not following the true Islamic tradition and yet calling themselves Muslims.
The country’s population growth rate is the key determinant of progress in achieving the goals envisaged in every sector of national life. With the population currently growing at a rate of 1.9 per cent per annum, the government is faced with the challenge of a huge backlog and higher targets in the provision of education, healthcare, housing and every other basic right while the economy remains under pressure.
“Corruption was widespread within the government and police forces, and the government made few attempts to combat the problem.”
Rape, domestic violence, sexual harassment, and abuse against women remained serious problems. Honour crimes and discriminatory legislation affected women and religious minorities respectively.
Religious freedom violations and inter-sectarian religious conflict continued. Widespread trafficking in persons, child labour, and exploitation of indentured and bonded children were ongoing problems.
Child abuse, commercial sexual exploitation of children, discrimination against persons with disabilities, and lack of respect for worker rights remained concerns.

SPITTING IN THE FACE OF USA
SPITTING IN THE FACE OF USA
I have always said that one of the biggest and the most outrageous dramas going on in the world today is the Middle East Peace talks. Even though no longer funny, the charade continues unabated, at the cost of billions of dollars of expense, and no one is ever serious and the joke is on the unaware public that keeps hoping for a "peaceful" result.
It is also customary to honor, and at least not to insult envoys, and treat them with due respect and honor, it is also known in most people that the greatest disrespect for anyone is to spit in their face, as it is a sign of the utter contempt.

CONFLICTED AIMS, CONFUSED LIVES, 2
CONFLICTED AIMS, CONFUSED LIVES, 2
So, you have been following the health care debate, or the jobs situation. And it is important, and you are involved. But what does it have to do with reality? You ARE being told that jobs will be harder to come by, that ten percent unemployment may linger for a long time. And we all know the story of the slow boiled frog.
The truth is that the consumer society will be the death of the human kind. The more we consume the more we pollute the earth and the air and the waters. Also the corporation can only exist in a consumer society, where people have money, (including health care, including employment). The problem is thus many fold, 1/ people and corporations do not create jobs so that other people can have money to spend, 2/ if people have no money then the government must give them money(welfare state), 3/ if a corporation wants to make money then it must increase productivity ( lay off people, use fewer people to produce more goods, adapt technologies that make humans unnecessary). Thus in this round robin way humans always lose, the same people that we need to consume our products ( thus cause pollution).
Obviously the solution is a controlled economy where people only live and reproduce as needed, and if needed they are rewarded with perks such as appropriate accommodations and food and luxuries appropriate to there usefulness. The for this reality is coming soon.

CONFLICTED AIMS, CONFUSED LIVES
CONFLICTED AIMS, CONFUSED LIVES
I worry about people, that's why I am worried about the future of humanity. What I see here, and what I know is real is scary to me, and I have been warning all that I know, or the ones who stumble upon this page about the upcoming disasters, about how the life is about to change, forever.
For far too long we have lived in a fantasy, both on the left and the right thinking we can do it all and have it all, everything could be done all at the same time, and mostly with borrowed money too. But, even as we are all talking about recession, about slow economy, and money is only the symptom of all that went wrong, not the real disease.
It was thirty seven years ago today that I arrived in this country, I had lived in a third world country, I had lived under Marshal Law and I had seen tyranny. I had seen abject poverty and cruelty. I had been in a police state, and I had seen oppression, political and financial, I had sen how people were kept poor, and how poor were kept down and controlled, I had seen slavery in its many forms. I have never regretted my decision to move to this country, I have no desire to move anywhere else.
I love my freedom, the knowledge I had and I have gained since my arrival here, what I say is not a critique per se, it is an observation and my understanding of the FACTS as they ARE! It is not something new to me, I have done this since my early days in this country, I have tried to awaken the sleeping.
History is full of examples of lost societies, cultures that prospered were destroyed by their own over confidence, of little people who got big heads, and big people who did not heed the warnings and were crushed by sands of time. Little people always get big heads still, even today people such as Chavez and Castro, Kim Jong Il and Mugabe exist, who like the Pharaohs of the old consider themselves almighty. These of course are not much different than the Federal Reserve and the IMF who decide who the winners and the losers of our society should be, and who has a job and who gets to eat.
Why are we here, looking at the unemployment that will keep going higher, health care that is out of control, families that can not live together, and student who won't learn and teachers who can not teach, this is no longer the news, it is the reality, and we have no solutions, and the politicians and preachers who can not save us, they are only after our money, sadly, we have no money, it was all imaginary any way!
If you have come along this far, and clicked on and read at least a few of the links, then you will see I have not only been ahead of the times I have also been right in my predictions, so far. Then now consider this, the world that we knew yesterday, the world that it was no longer exists, change IS coming, and it will not be to the liking of a majority.
Before I go any further let me make one point, it may be unrelated to what I am saying here but it is important, the reason I can write this and that you are reading is that the first amendment to the constitution of the United States, I have been in many places where there was no freedom of speech, let me then also say this, that the second amendment to the constitution makes sure that the first stays in place, we must defend the second amendment to safeguard the first.

THE SPENDING INCREASE
THE SPENDING INCREASE
Can the economists please go back to their "theoretical" sleeps. The personal income of course includes the food stamps and the unemployment payments and rent subsidies and the tax refunds. People in these situations don't save, they spend, have to, all they get. Also if you are living in the real world you would have known that the low income people were already filing with tax preparers (who have also now turned into loan sharks) at the end of December already, this is where the increase in spending and lack of savings come from, the meager wage increases did not go to the low income people, it was the bankers bonuses, get real!

BEING A PROPHET
BEING A PROPHET
It was easy being a prophet in the dark ages, people still believed in the super natural, and with little control and understanding of the nature, they always surrendered to the unknown. Today we have sciences and technology, we have knowledge of physics, and chemistry, we understand biology, we have been to the moon and come back, we even control the birth and the life and the death. So it is that even though we proclaim to profess a religion, out relation to and the fear of the supernatural is mininmal.
In the old days thus, it was easy for the prophet to scare people in to giving up their evil ways and to have them follow a moral guideline, even if it involved child sacrifice or anointing the alter and the doorways with the blood of sacrifice. It did not take much for people to fear nature, a bad crop, a small disease, an uruly ruler were all that it took for the people to become confirmists. To understand and fear the wrath of nature.
Today, however, even with the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, which followed the large earthquakes in Pakistan and China, and a Tsunami in the Indian ocean with hundreds of thousands dead, the hurricane in New Orleans, the people don't seem to be scared of the nature, they have not become more pious and or less greedy. And the prophets may warn of the next upcoming doom, the world changer, the message yet falls upon deaf ears. It may not be the time to find a new "God" or a God anew, it is time for us to reconsider our priorities, our place in the nature, away from the TV, away from "Youtube" and the "Facebook", there is a life out there, "for real".

IT MAY SOUND CRUEL
IT MAY SOUND CRUEL
It may sound cruel and insensitive to many, but as in this case here and millions more every year we have taken the right of death from the hands of God, and given it to doctors and technology. We need to redefine death and who has the right to bring death to a person when we won't let God kill someone at the appointed time, we are no longer extending life, we are prolonging the process of death itself. God is already not the sole creator of life, we have artificial insemination and donor sperms, and egg transplants. God can not kill because we have CPR, iron lings, and heart transplants, so the matter of life and death is solely in the domain of man. Only question remaining now is what the quality of life is remaining. With my deepest condolences to the Olbermann family, the pain and suffering of the old man does not seem to be worth it. There must come a time that the doctors must conclude past their own profit and religious motives and say THIS THE TIME. And the families should be told the truth that we are keeping a dead person around, that is before they become broke. The problem with the insurance money and the federal programs such as medicare and medicaid, families have tough time facing the truth while they are causing themselves and the country to go broke while they make the doctors , lawyers and the insurance executives richer.

WHAT IS KILLING YOU
WHAT IS KILLING YOU
Do you see a connection? From health care costs going up to housing prices going down, to the corruption and greed of the individual and politicians, and the moral destruction of society, there is one common thread, one main reason all of this is happening, it is called technology. Just when you were thinking that the science was going to save us all, the science is killing us, will kill us faster than you think.

YES, THERE ARE TWO PATHS, BUT
YES, THERE ARE TWO PATHS, BUT
If you are to be honest, you can see a recovery and a return to the conditions of wealth, jobs etc is not only improbable, but mathematically impossible also.
The government is lying again, that the consumer spending keeps going up month to month, how that is even possible is not explained. The housing prices are down , the wages are stagnant, the unemployment is up, all of which would seem to indicate a lower spending, But still we are told that we are spending more money. we must have imported our statisticians from the Soviets. Can we trust the media? apparently not.
We are always told of the free and independent media in this country, but that is no longer true, our media are owned by corporations that are interested in making profits, not informing the public.

THERE TWO PATHS THAT YOU CAN GO BY, BUT
THERE TWO PATHS THAT YOU CAN GO BY, BUT
So the song says, and so it is, there are two paths, both of them will lead us to ruin, a liberal path and a conservative path.
Time and again, I have mentioned my reasons as to why I see that this, our country is on a path to self destruction. I am also proud to say that I warned of it long before many late comers saw it coming, long before Lou Dobbs, Glenn Beck and Alex Jones, long before even Reagan had left the office.
I was still in the active duty army when Regan was reelected, I did not vote for him, he was breaking up the unions, he had re- done the tax code ( which had personally increased my taxes.
Look at it this way, say the Democrats are for abortion and for welfare, the Republicans are against abortion and against welfare. Now when you want to cut taxes and reduce spending while you stop abortions the poverty will increase, and so will illegal abortions, on the other hand if you keep feeding the welfare machine more and more poor keep having kids as they can get welfare, but still you increase poverty, and the number of the poor, thus neither party has a real solution.
Another thing is the military industrial complex, here the Democrats want to reduce defense spending while in reality most of the defense workers are unionized and have the best benefits of all workers in the country. The Republicans can't be serious about tackling the deficits without actually reducing the spending on defense, so once again both sides are lying about solving the budget, deficit crisis.

IS THIS MAN STUPID? OR YOU ARE?
IS THIS MAN STUPID? OR YOU ARE?

On most days I listen to this jack ass on the radio, I call him a jack ass for calling him a man would be an insult to humanity.
My qualm with this moron is not the he himself an ignorant imbecile, as an American he has that right, my problem is that for three hours a day some one is paying him to lower the intelligence level of a large swath of our populace, whether for a political purpose or may be even just for financial exploitation of the unwary.
There are laws to protect the innocent, and laws against exploitation of the consumers, and surely one could argue that out right lying to the public is not covered by the first amendment protections, just as you can not yell "fire" in a theater.
My problem is two fold, one that the most of the other conservative media are also lying still, trying to cover their asses, ( Liberal media too) as to how they sat on their hands while the ship of state sank economically and morally, that they were all rooting for the looters and the thieves in all their guises.
Could it even be possible that his listeners never check any other news source? Are they so ignorant that they believe everything he says, if so then this man is dangerous to the country and the Democracy.
No doubt that he knows that most of his listeners (followers) are not rich or self employed business persons, quite the contrary they are lower middle class workers with little knowledge of the financial world, business, taxes or even money management, and this evil pied piper, frothing at the mouth clown, misguides, misinforms and misleads these poor causing them to make judgments that actually hurt the ones who listen to him the most. Some business owners who do not know how to run the business or ones who have a wrong business model or expectations are also easy prey, believing they would be successful only if it were not for the government, taxes or regulations.

GAMBLING VS FORNICATION
GAMBLING VS FORNICATION
What else should I write about on this Valentine's day but "Fornication vs Gambling". And the topic is appropriate for my state of Alabama as there is a lot of hoopla around the subject of gambling good or bad.
There are two groups here, one group saying that the gambling, ( we here call it legal Bingo or even (( tongue in cheek)) charity bingo), creates jobs that our state needs so desperately, and that they are dong this just to help out the poor, the other led by our not so esteemed but steamed governor say that gambling is immoral and creates problems for the society. Could they both be right?
Let's see, I have previously proposed that no rich people ever create a job for the sole purpose of helping out the poor, I have even said that rich create jobs so that the can exploit the labors of the poor for their own benefit, this is not Marxism but John Adams at his purest.
Let me assure you that I am not naive there is good in gambling, especially if you are winning, it does create jobs, and does spread the money around, mostly towards the rich and the casino owner, so let's admit first that a bingo hall by any other name is still a casino, you go to lay your money down on a chance of winning or losing or there would be no fun in it.
But the question I have is this, why are we not crusading against extra marital- premarital sex when they cause just as many problems in the society as would gambling, if not more?
Or is it just easier to pick on just one group of "sinners" as opposed the majority of the people?
Isn't dating just another name for fornication as Bingo is to gambling? Or is banning dating and extra marital sex next on the agenda of the moral police?

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS VII
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS VII
While we look at and may be laugh at the crisis in Greece, we should be seeing our own future.
We are taught that the history is a lesson in the future, The Bible and the other "holy" books tell us stories of the people in times so that we may learn how to conduct our selves and to know what the consequences can be for "improper" ways of living.
The stories also tell us how to predict what is to come, some also call it karma. Sometimes it a national karma. Then how is it that so many of us who profess faith of some kind or another could be so mistaken. How did we get so stupid that some one could write a book that "the Secret" to get what we wanted was a condition of persistent "wishful thinking".
The truth is that human beings are basically lazy, we do not love freedom, or responsibility, we want things to be free. Time and again we have shown that we ill sell our brothers, our wives and our mothers and daughters for an easy way out. We are basically immoral, and do not like to be told to work hard, or even work at all or make sacrifices. May be that is why all religions require some kind of sacrifice as a proof of one's sincerity.

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS IV
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS IV
You can be mad at me for what I say, but I have company now, but before we go in to the details, just remember this, I was the first one who told you this.
"No matter who you are and what your faith or beliefs, whether you be a right winger or a liberal, Republican or a Democrat, the result is the same, we all get to the same place.
Was it all planned, was it by design, was it a conspiracy, in reality of today it matters not. We are "HERE", and that is all that matters now. So forget the governments protestations and promises, forget the faith and belief, they are not going to help.
Beck tells you the he started thinking about this three years ago, I have been telling you this for over thirteen years, "we are headed for a catastrophe". And you can do nothing about it. My book of poetry was dedicated to our social and economic problems, the decline of our morals and our society, what else you needed to know?
Does any one else find this a strange coincidence then that as Glenn Beck wants you to be ready for a revolution, and John Boener and his ilk want to mount a political rebellion, is at the same time that the European communist also want to bring down the system thru chaos and anarchy.

AFFIA SIDDIQUI IS CONVICTED
AFFIA SIDDIQUI IS CONVICTED
In the most under reported story in the American Press,
'Lady Al Qaeda' Aafia Siddiqui convicted of attempted murder

The woman dubbed "Lady Al Qaeda" was convicted Wednesday of attempted murder for shooting at Americans in Afghanistan - and she reacted in typical fashion.
"This is a verdict coming from Israel not America," Aafia Siddiqui exclaimed, raising one hand and pointing up before being led out of the Manhattan courtroom.
"That's where the anger belongs. I can testify to this. And I have proof."
The outburst was hardly shocking; Siddiqui disrupted her own trial several times with bizarre statement and demands to take the stand in her own defense.
Despite her insistence she never grabbed an Army rifle and opened fire on her U.S. interrogators, a federal jury found her guilty of attempted murder and six other counts.
The 37-year-old MIT-trained neuroscientist faces life in prison when she's sentenced May 6. "Juries do make mistakes. Juries do go wrong" said Elaine Sharp, one of Siddiqui's lawyers.
"In my opinion this verdict is based on fear, not on fact."
Sharp said when she told Siddiqui the verdict, she asked that a message be sent to her supporters at home in Pakistan that she did not want any violent demonstrations.
The lawyer claimed Siddiqui's anti-Israeli comments were the paranoid rantings of a women who had been held in solitary confinement for 18 months.
Siddiqui was arrested in 2008 in Afghanistan after being caught with poisonous chemicals, bomb-making instructions and a list of New York landmarks.
She grabbed an unguarded rifle at an Afghan police station and started shooting at the Americans sent to grill her.
She was not charged with terrorism.

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS V
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS V
And the economic down turn shall continue.
If you believe I am wrong then think again. I have been warning of this day for fifteen years or more, and as we have continued along I have explained the various matrices and the reasons for the way the economy and the markets were behaving in that moment. Four years ago,in late 2006, I told Chip Bailey on his radio show, and tried to show Joe Gorecki why the market's were wrong and the Dow should be at six thousand, markets have had no relation with reality for a while, but they were wrong then and they are wrong now.
A theory is just that, a theory, and it is only as good as the premises it is based on. Economics is not and exact science, and that is why we are here, well also because of the money is being manipulated by charlatans and the governments. Why is it that no Nobel winner saw it coming, they wanted the future to confirm their fantasies. Did not Alan Greenspan admit that he was wrong in his assumptions about the human behavior.
Look around you, look at the society, here and abroad, given the opportunity the humans will sink to the base, is that not what I have been saying,
Then here is the rest of your future. I f you are a working stiff, you have no money in your 401k, your retirement fund is broke, and they are talking about your social security start date will be delayed, there is no money left in your medicare fund either. I f you have kids that will be going to college, there is no money for that either, of course there are Pell grants and student loans, but good luck.
How did we ever become convinced that we could all get rich by spending borrowed money? And this is the same mantra that Bush was pushing for eight years and Reagan did before every body else. And now Obama is being trashed for saying the same thing, granted he is naive, that he was naive, I have said that much, I said it the day he was elected. He did not know what he was getting himself in to.

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS IV
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS IV
It IS my purpose to hold up a mirror to you and to MAKE you look. It is said that one is recognized by the company he keeps, I have therefore questioned our associations, with China, with Saudi Arabia, with Egypt and to a point with Israel among others. I have brought up the points about torture and about corruption and about our lip service to the human right, now what is your part as an individual, that is if you want to stop our journey along this road way to the abyss.
Be you a lefty crying about the human rights or a right wing anti abortion nut, what are you really? The truth is that Wal-Mart has become the biggest retailer in the world, and you are to be blamed. No I am not talking here about the cheap labor in sweat shops, you get cheap stuff from dollar toys to IPods and flat screen TVs thanks to the Chinese workers working for forty- five cents and hour for sixteen hours days, six days a week. Forget about the human rights and political freedoms, about limited access to the internet. We want free trade with the Chinese because our nations defense now depends on the Chinese made spare parts or our hi tech gadgets would be useless if not outright non existent.
Think about this when you head in to the Wal-mart on your next trip. In China, in most cases, a second baby born, alive and healthy, is murdered, suffocated or left alone to die, you are condoning this with your purchase of items made in China, just as they used to say that buying oil from the middle East is supporting the terrorists.
It could happen here, yes, it could and soon, soon as we are told that we can no longer support children born out of wedlock to women who can not support them, and to people who do not have jobs, think it won't? Think again.

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS III
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS III
I should say something about the Obama State of the Union, you do know he gave a speech last night to the joit session of congress, and to the American public, I will.
As I said, the good news is that the world will end on 20 December, 2012, the bad news is that it may not.
The closest analogy to what we have here is this, someone breaks into your house and while you are watching he viciously rapes your sister, and you are saying , oh well, at least it is not me. Then he comes over and rapes your backsides, and you are miserable, but he hands you a lollipop, and you are saying well atleast he GAVE me a lollipop, and not that I am gay or something.
So what is the future of America, because that is the future of humanity, like it or not. Obama talked about taking away the tax breaks of corporations that move jobs overseas, sadly any one that wanted to move, already has, we have no auto industry, we have no sewing industry, we don't make air conditioners, fridges, ovens, bicycles, TVs, computers, hell we are even importing meth form Mexico, so what is this crap about moving jobs overseas, what the hell is left here to move? Hell we could not even fly a helicopter or a jet, or navigate a ship during war because our computtersystems in all of these are made over seas.
IN this global world, no one is loyal to the United States, no one is required to put the USA first, not the corporations, not in the least, so when I hear the working people say that they are Republicans, I want to scream out" you poor stupid bastard". But then again the poor stupid bastards are not all or just Republicans, they are also Democrats.
How do you define a "Poor Stupid Bastard", you can look up my article on the war on poverty.
I have two theories, or three may be four, first of all any one that is against abortion, or pulling the plug on granny should be made to pay taxes to support all the bastards (and otherwise) that have daddies that won't pay to support their off spring, and also pay taxes for keeping granny alive. If you are not paying for my upkeep then shut the hell up. Two, if throwing money at the schools makes kids smarter, give the schools all the money they want and they should be expected to produce only geniuses, if not school systems and teachers should only be payed based on their performance ( oh, BTW the kids interest in getting an education correlates with the the interest of the parent in educating the kid) , I did not see this Obamas's speech or the Republican response.
Third, if cutting taxes increases the revenues then we should reduce the taxes to zero and thereby get out of debt, Republicans should be required to come up with a rock solid plan based on this assumption, or be required never ever to mention the stupid idea again. May be Rush can prove this.
Rush also kept mentioning the Ayn Rand book "Atlas Shrugged" last summer, I wonder if he ever read the book himself, "" WIKI (please also read " Property rights and Individualism")
The characters in Atlas Shrugged are portrayed based on their productive effort, respect for rights, intellectual honesty, and moral integrity independent of their wealth or social class. Among the heroes, John Galt and Hank Rearden are from working class backgrounds, while Dagny Taggart and Francisco d'Anconia are from wealthy families. Among the villains, Fred Kinnan is from a working class background, while James Taggart and Lillian Rearden are from wealthy families."" Wealth in modern day America ( last thirty years or so) has been made by following more and more bizzare scams, money market and stock market manipulations, cronyism and out right lies and fraud and gaming the system.

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS II
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS II
So what is the purpose, what is my message? I do not have plan to save the world, And it has been predicted that the world will end one day anyway so why not now, anyway?
The prophecies in the holy books are not that unusual, it is not hard to see that if a few people, a government or a political philosophy takes over control of the resources, they could choose who shall eat or not and who shall live or not. We have already seen this in our own lifetimes with the Communist regimes and the Nazis, thus the concept of an anti_Christ.
As some in the right wing media have compared Obama to the anti- Christ, complained about his socialism and an up coming take over of control by the government (martial law and such), I had tried to brin gthe attention of the c0untry to such an eventuality back in the April of 2008, comparing the the situation to the one that existed back in the thirties. The economic conditions that existed back then have not changed, we are only buying time before the real disaster hits.
To compound the problem, once again, we have the laws on the book already that will make such a situation possible, that is the declaration of emergency conditions and the usurping the rights of the people to protest, of undeclared detentions, suspension of the Hebeas Corpus, these laws were passed in clear view of the nation and with the support of the right wingers and the tea baggars, these are called the PATRIOT ACT.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE RIGHT 05/17/2004
I consider myself pretty conservative on the social issues. My two teenage daughters are told, and made to dress a bit modestly, i.e. no belly buttons or panties showing, and no two piece bathing suits, even though both take swimming and karate, and the older is also in JROTC.
But seems to me that by default, the right has taken a cult mentality where the leader can do no wrong. What has George Bush done right lately? Be Honest! He has taken us into a war we can not win. He lied to us or was stupid enough to not to know when he was being lied to. He fell for the WMD charade, the nuclear purchase charade, he did not know what our military was doing in our prison camps, and can not see what his PATRIOTS ACT does to the civil rights and the liberties.
Is this nation now so far gone that we are supposed to turn a blind eye when the king is naked. Where is the out rage? This time it is not a bunch of dope smoking hippies that are against the war, but it is a bunch of do gooders wanting death and destruction on the people of the world in the name of the Lord and peace. And don't tell me that the support of the war from the right is only based upon facts, and the known dangers.
Why are we not holding Mr Bush responsible for the budget screw ups and the deficits, for the health care mess, for the jobs being created that pay no benefits, and more than anything else for a screwed up war we are in.
Or is it that right only consists of the people who sent money to Jim Baker and Jimmy Swaggert and Pat Robertson and Falwell and their ilk. We have no brains, we can not ask our president to tell the drug companies to quit pushing Viagra day and night. That he should make the oil companies pay windfall profits taxes, ( for while the working people have to pay thru the nose at the pump, his and Cheney's buddies are getting filthy rich)

THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS
THE WORLD IS AN ABYSS
I do not claim to be smarter than anyone, I do, however have a different way of looking at things and try to connect things that are not related to get a different view of reality. I see the similarities between cultures adn notice their differences, but I also see how and where we will end up in this world if the drastic changes are not made and made real quick.
I do take credit for warning others of the up coming market crash , the housing bubbles, the banking crisis So now as the world is hoping for a recovery, I am wondering how far do have to go before things turn around, and I know it won't be anytime soon, no matter the predictions of the government and politicians.
At the very least I know we are not going back to the world of the last few years. with unlimited amounts of money coming from no where, wiht leverage of forty to one and more and the real estate going up twenty percent a year or more. That not only means that the rich won't be getting richer as fast, it also means that the world will have billions of new poor, billions more at the edge of starvation and slavery.
As I have said before, we are paying out billions of money that we don't have, spending billions to train people for the jobs that will never exist, so why are we wasting money? Because it is not real money? Or because we don't want riots and people in the street asking for blood of the politicians.

THIS IS NOT ISLAM
As if Islam needed another black eye, the fiefdom of UAE has acquitted on of its princes giving Islam and the Muslim countries another shameful black eye, this is not Islamic Justice and the Muslms the world over should protest the bastardization of their religion, I would hope to see some protests and anger, like itis always exhibited about the percieved disrespecxt to their religion.
UAE sheikh acquitted in taped beating
- Sheikh acquitted Sunday of charges linked to videotaped torture of Afghan grain dealer
- Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, is a member of the emirates' ruling family,
- He was charged with rape, endangering life and causing bodily harm
- In evidence was 3-hour tape shot in 2004 of the alleged incident
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CNN) -- A United Arab Emirates sheikh was acquitted Sunday of charges connected to the videotaped beating and torture of an Afghan grain dealer.
Sheikh Issa bin Zayed al-Nahyan, a member of the emirates' ruling family, was charged with rape, endangering life and causing bodily harm in connection with the nearly three-hour long tape shot in 2004 in the desert outside Abu Dhabi, one of the United Arab Emirates in the Persian Gulf region.
However, the court acquitted Issa on Sunday, ruling he had diminished responsibility for his actions because of the effects of medication his defense attorney claimed he was given. Issa had a "lack of criminal responsibility," the court found, defense attorney Habib al-Mulla told CNN.
"The judiciary system acquitted Issa based on the evidence presented by the defense that the sheikh was under the influence of drugs given to him," al-Mulla said. "That deprived him from his poise and caused him to carry out acts that were out of consciousness and that were photographed with the intention for later extortion."

Video: UAE trial verdict The tape surfaced last year as a piece of evidence in a federal civil suit filed in Houston, Texas, against the sheikh by his former business partner, Bassam Nabulsi. It caused outrage among human rights groups and in the United States, where senior U.S. officials familiar with the case said the tape delayed the ratification of a civil nuclear deal between the UAE and the United States.
On the tape, Issa is seen along with a private security officer stuffing sand in the man's mouth. As the grain dealer pleads and whimpers, he is beaten with a nailed board, burned in the genitals with a cigarette lighter, shocked with a cattle prod and led to believe he would be shot. Salt is poured into his wounds.
In the end, the victim can muster up only weak moans as an SUV is repeatedly driven over him.
"No one can prove that this videotape has not been tampered with," al-Mulla said Sunday. The only person who can confirm the incidents happened as seen on the tape is the victim, and he has not confirmed that, he added. "We deny the incident as it was shown on that videotape."
The defense did not just center on the medication, he said, but claimed that the videotape and other incidents from that night were all part of a conspiracy aimed at blackmailing the sheikh.
During the trial, the defense presented medical reports from experts in the United States and the United Arab Emirates showing that the various types of medicines given to Issa, when combined, "would lead any person to act in a very aggressive manner, losing his control and his behavior."
Asked about a Human Rights Watch statement that one trial was not enough to stop torture and restore the United Arab Emirates' image, al-Mulla told CNN he believed the UAE was "courageous" to hold the trial, calling it "a very positive signal of what the UAE is trying to achieve."
The incident allegedly was triggered by Issa's belief he was cheated in a business deal. UAE officials have said the grain dealer survived and has settled the matter privately with the sheikh, with the two agreeing not to bring formal charges against the other.
Al-Mulla said he is "pleased with the verdict as it was proven that Sheikh Issa was a victim, and he was not what the media tried to portray him [as]."
The Afghan man was in the courtroom, and the court issued him a "temporary" compensation of 10,000 dirhams ($2,722), al-Mulla said.
Nabulsi, a Lebanese-born U.S. citizen now living in Houston, said he met Issa when the sheikh came to Houston for medical treatment in 1994. They became friends and business partners and the sheikh recruited Nabulsi to move to Abu Dhabi to work for him.
In the lawsuit, Nabulsi claimers breaches of contract and fiduciary duty. A federal court dismissed the suit in June, ruling it did not have jurisdiction, according to online federal court records. Nabulsi has appealed to the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
Nabulsi told CNN in April the sheikh turned on him after he expressed concern over the Afghan's treatment. Later, he was arrested on drug charges, and security officers working for the sheikh ransacked his home and demanded the torture video. But the tape -- shot by Nabulsi's brother at the order of the sheikh, he said -- had already been smuggled out of the country.
Nabulsi said he was arrested, jailed and ultimately convicted on drug charges -- and was tortured and humiliated by UAE police, who demanded he return the tape.
Al-Mulla said Sunday Nabulsi was sentenced to five years in jail in absentia, agreeing that he was responsible for the drugging of the sheikh. Prosecutors will attempt to implement the sentence through Interpol, he said.
CNN's Caroline Faraj, Stan Grant and Saad Abedine contributed to this report.

PLAYING WITH FIRE
PLAYING WITH FIRE
Once again, I have been missing a lot. Thinking more, but writing less, what's the use, people are tired of the bad news. And truth is a bitter pill to swallow. Same as to admit ones wrongs. And how do you know really if you are in hell, when you have been playing with fire and just got burnt.
Obama, the prince of the Nobel peace, is about to start the third fourth and the fifth war of his presidency. I don't agree with the right wing websites claiming that the Christmas incidence was all a conspiracy to take away our remaining freedoms and liberties, but then we do need more wars to keep this economy afloat, and that incident alone has caused billions in economic impact what with increased security and new equipment sales.

O.K. call me cynical, and I also don't plan to be traveling by air anytime soon. But stuff like this does impact military sales, and so called civilian employment by security firms. I always wonder why we don't just put the TSA and the other security people in uniforms as they do all over the world. And how the hell we get away with having contract security personnel to provide security for the CIA, and the State Department, isn't it what the militaries are for? why the charades?
And there, will Yemen be cheaper? easier? Probably not, and this is why. Plainly put , our spoken policies end up conflicting our deeds and the "other people" not as stupid as we think they are or should be. And it always comes back to bite us in the ass. We have talked about it before. Did we not start and support the Talibans to fight the Soviets, and not only that, for sixty yeas or more we have supported the Saudi regime that has brought the fundamentalism to the Islamic world and has been the biggest supporter of the radical Islamists every where and is one of the most undemocratic regimes anywhere in the world, then how do we go around pretending to be supporting democracy, don't you think the others know the king is naked. How long can we keep spending the money(that we do not have), and the blood of the American youth to support our misguided policies, we need to chose one or the other side, not both.
And then there is the economy, lets see with all the dog and pony shows and the claims of communism, how many salaries is the pay czar controlling
