A CASE FOR POPULATION CONTROL, VI

A CASE FOR POPULATION CONTROL, VI

An economic down turn combined with the technology that is replacing humans in jobs, an increase in "productivity" and an end to consumerism that is needed to save the planet how do we justify an increasing population?

From the fifties on thru the start of the eighties, (remember Ronald Reagan, NAFTA, and THE GATT), Technology was serving the humanity, the air travel had made the world smaller, trade was increasing. Up until that time, the United States was the leader in manufacturing and technology. We were producing things that other people wanted to buy and pay premium prices for it. We made things and brought in money from overseas, we were rich.

Then we started buying stuff from overseas and sent our manufacturing jobs to people who lived on a bowl of rice a day, heck even India and China and the lowly Pakistan are importing goods made cheaply in other countries.

As I have stated in my previous writings, the new American economy was a farce. As Reagan, Bush 41, Clinton and Bush 43 led our country and the world in to the "La La Land" of ever increasing prosperity based on an ever increasing money supply and the "riches beyond belief" of the borrowed money.

If no one saw it coming, then in 2003, I had warned of the upcoming catastrophe, it was in my new year's eve letter to the Money magazine and the Dothan Eagle, we have been duped for so long. Today, regardless of their promises and pleadings to the contrary, there will be no recovery for the majority of the people of this country or the world.

Here is something you should also take note of though. In the upcoming battle about the immigration in the United States congress, you will see the arguments being made that we don't have jobs for the people who are already here, that was my argument against amnesty back in 2006.

If it is true, and it is, that the United States herself cannot afford to have any more people that it already has, then how can a third world country support a larger and ever growing population. The "economic boom" of the United States had many beneficiaries, in faraway places, now the economic misery is also spreading around the world, for every job lost in the United States there are six or seven jobs being lost somewhere else around the globe.

If the misery of the poor was increasing during the good times, (A War on Poverty), then what do we have to look forward to as the poverty and unemployment are headed for increases in the foreseeable future. If the drug wars, child prostitution, slavery, sexual slavery, bondage, higher rates of illnesses and other miseries are the future of humanity, then it is better to stop producing babies now.

So far, no government and no industry and no liberal or conservative think tank , no religion, no NGO and no religious organization is willing to face up to the reality of this future. Even the China plan of one baby per family is drastically short of what is needed.

You make a great case for the brokenness of our socioeconomic system. No one could argue that the discrepancy between the rich and poor is shameful at best. No one could rightly contend that actions need not be taken. What I take issue with is the solution you offered. The suggestion that a dramatically smaller population would elevate the economic outlook universally seems a bit naive. In fact I believe it ignores thousands of years of recorded history that evidence the contrary.

Inequity within the human race has always been a problem. Even when populations were significantly smaller many still struggled to survive. One of God’s greatest prophets, Moses, made a statement that bears heavily upon this subject. He said, “For the poor will never cease to be in the land.” (Deuteronomy 15:11a) I contend that the great tragedy that exists in our day is not poverty but apathy. The solution is not to get rid of people but to feed them. The solution for the hurting will not be found in genocide, euthanasia, or Planned Parenthood, but in a genuine love and concern for ones neighbor. Moses having established that poverty would be a perpetual problem instructed the people to, “freely open your hand to your brother, to your needy and poor in your land." (Deuteronomy 15:11b) I contend that poverty is not the great crime rather apathy is. The solution is but a double portion of the compassion that Jesus Christ exemplified.

Dear sir or madam,
Thank you much for your kind comments. Here once again, I must bring to your attention the statement on the banner that,” it is not the way I think you should live, it is not the way that I want you to live, but it is the way I know you will live”. I follow the trends of times and extrapolate from there what the future may look like. I am not advocating a population control per se, what I mean to project, however, is that if the current trends continue, we will come to a point, soon, population controls will become imperative for the survival of humanity.
The dichotomy we face today is this, if we were to have everyone (ok, almost) equal, in material possessions and creature comforts, we will destroy the earth’s resources in a short time, I addressed this point in “new world order, 2003”. The alternative is to leave many behind so the few can survive, or to institute the population controls. I empathize with your view and understand your desires, but the reality is not confirming to your wishes.
I am an avid student of the ancient writings, and try to see how they relate to the present. Therefore I have noted the same writings in this exposition. The modern ethos decline to follow these “holy scriptures” of all colors. A further study of this blog will show you how I have pleaded over time for the use of common sense and decency in our lives. Today, we fail to see that the Pharaohs were also all powerful and mighty and considered themselves as “gods” above reproach. They too had accumulated immense wealth and power, and built pyramids and were buried with gold and silver and food. Today we see, as the bible says, none of their riches saved them from the ultimate. Alas! Men yet fail to see the folly of their pursuits, and just to make it fun for you, here is a quote from the Koran
36:30 (Picktall) Ah, the anguish for the bondmen! Never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him!

36:31 (Picktall) Have they not seen how many generations We destroyed before them, which indeed return not unto them;
