Mohammed N. Razavi In the old days, an enemy territory was besieged as an act of war of aggression. Today that siege has been replaced by sometimes political or economic sanctions to obtain the same result, to bring to offender to his knees. Sanctions are more "civilized", but no less brutal in consequences in many cases. But then what else is diplomacy, but another name for duplicity.

But might I ask whether you think there is any reason to be concerned about Iran possessing nuclear weapons. Because preventing this outcome is the central purpose of these sanctions.

Razavi As an American and a citizen of the world, with relatives in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, England, Germany, Turkey and Canada and a few cousins in Australia too, I not only look at our policies as not only how the work for us, but also how they effect the others. I also get feed back from "around the world" first hand. Does Iran have Nuclear weapons or should it? Why are we so scared of the nuclear threat to "Arabs" when Israel has been sitting there for long time threatening Arab Regimes. I am not an Anti Semite, even though if you may label me as such I will totally understand where you are coming from, why is Israel always excepted from following the international laws and the UN resolution, it is not just me looking at things this way, the whole world is looking at it this way. We went to war against Iraq because it did not follow the UN resolutions, why we do not enforce the same in Israel. US is becoming a joke around the world and only way we can keep ourselves relative in the world matters anymore is by using or threatening to use our military power. Go back to my blog and read it , I have been admonishing the US public about our ruinous fiscal policies for many years, even before 9/11 , I have called out the Islamic nations to be more fair to their own people, I have called out the US government to to reign in spending and warned the Us public of lower standard of living in the future. The problem is not that the other people are able to see through our hypocrisy, the problem is that we do not yet understand that the joke is on us.

BTW I had already read the story of the Iranian missiles in Venezuela, are we not the biggest arms suppliers in the world by far,  do you  really think that the Iranian missiles are a credible threat to the US, Here is something you  should read, http://tombstone001.blogspot.com/2006/09/new-world-order-2003.html   , if we wish to control the world then let us lay it out in the open and warn everybody, this is asinine that we want to screw over the world and want the people to like us too and think of us a the nice guys, damn it it is not working, Washington, get a clue.
