A NOT SO FREE PRESS II
An actual free press would be interested in making you informed, hoping you will learn something about the world you live in, near and far, but are you really interested? Apparently, most people today are not looking for "NEWS", they want some entertainment, if some information is stuck in , so be it. If one does happen to be looking for information in a news program they would be out of luck, most information today is to reaffirm your prejudices and reenforce your own ideology, that is because of the way we choose the source, no contrary ideas allowed. There was a time when the ideal of the free press did work, mostly because one was limited in how one could obtain the information, no longer, we only pick the sources of information that we know will tell us what we like. CNN, FOX, or even Comedy Central know what we want to here, our political leanings, the truth be damned, we have to make money.
It is hard to find any unbiased sources of news any more, every news source has an agenda, you must pick and choose, but that would mean that you must already understand and have more than just basic knowledge of the subject. How can it be called even getting the news, when you already know what you are going to get, and that is what you wanted in the first place?
