FREEDOM'S JUST ANOTHER WORD, PART THREE

America has been in the mood for a change, I have addressed this for a while also,

April 2008, I warned of the possibility of social upheaval,

http://tombstone001.blogspot.com/2008/04/buzz-windrip-for-president.html

I said the elections of 2008 were not about the race of the winner, but someone who can lead us through the tough times and keep the country together,

http://tombstone001.blogspot.com/2008/03/race-about-race.html

In January of 2008, every candidate was talking about change and I wrote what change are they talking about, it was never made clear by anyone in the race,

http://tombstone001.blogspot.com/2008/01/we-are-all-shreks-now.html

I also addressed the upcoming economical decline. changes are not easy, revolutions are not fun, social upheavals leave many displaced and dispossessed , wrongfully. Is that what we want? is that what we relish?

FREEDOM'S JUST ANOTHER WORD, PART TWO CONT'D

09/28/2009

FREEDOM'S JUST ANOTHER WORD, PART TWO

The irony of the verse, "freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose", is personally real to me. At the end of my active military career in 1985, my parents wanted me to return to Saudi Arabia and work there so I could be close to them. My father even sent me a resident visa, as thing are done in Saudi Arabia, issued to me at the "request" of Prince Naif. I visited the Saudi Arabian embassy in Bonn (West Germany) wearing my US Army uniform, as I was just down the road for a meeting. The person at the office looked at me and then at his files obviously finding my visa then looked up at me and said my visa was not there. To make a long story short in the end I was allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia on a tourist visa to see my parents. I never again got a resident permit there. Was it my uniform or was the Saudi government trying to keep me out for my political views, I would never know. It did work out for the best since I came back to the United States and was hired by the Department of the Army, I got married, went to college to get my Master's degree and start a business, all of it.

I held secret clearance in the military, i was on courier orders in Germany (West) as I transported parts of war plans in between military installations. I served my (adopted) country with honor and pride, I was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal, by the military and a Superior Service Medal by the Department of the Army for my civilian work. Dan fired me because I to many people were complaining about my work!!!!!!!

We can do better, no not for me to get a job back, but the America I came to was a beacon for me and for millons of others like myself, (even as we now know that we have been party to many a shady deal). If we want Bashir of Sudan to be tried for human rights violations, then what about our other friends that do the same all day every day, in Pakistan, in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. If we want sanctions against Iran and want them to open their nuclear facilities then why not Israel, ( no I am not and anti Semite). If we are against torture the why not all torture, what is this extra -ordinary rendition business. I am for equality of justice. That does not make me an enemy of the state, it makes me a real American.

FREEDOM' S JUST ANOTHER WORD, CONT'D

FREEDOM' S JUST ANOTHER WORD, CONT'D

Whether we acknowledge them, know of them or remember them or not , like gravity and time there are constants in life, modern love not being one of them. And just as modern love is a meaning less term, freedom to day is also hollow and meaning less, or at least a misunderstood concept.

There are two kinds of populations in this world, 85 percent who are ignorant of the reality, and the 15 percent who chose to ignore it.

A little over a year ago, I was driving around in my van, in the back window i had a hand made poster stating, " Freedom is wasted on the ignorant and the illiterate," I had made up the quote myself. At the credit union a gentleman followed me in, "I have served for many years in the military to insure freedom for all", he said, obviously not realizing that by saying this he was treading on my freedom of speech also.

This very well illustrates the conundrum we have today in the United States. I have for long shown how the liberal policies actually hurt the poor, and how the psychologists and others in helping professions actually create a dependent class more maladjusted then it would be other wise .

Let me remind you though, I am not in to conspiracy theory, but as I have said for years, but that where we are today is the natural consequence of what we have been doing for many years.

Today many on the right are upset with Obama's policies, they are upset with his DOMESTIC spying, his globalist designs, his military adventures, his banking bail out and bail outs of the auto industry, to name just a few. Where were these folks for the past many years while the country was going down the tubes, borrowing money and shipping jobs overseas.

In March 2008, George Bush said that 70 percent of the American own their own homes, on my comments on WRJM I said that either Mr Bush is a liar or a stupid jackass, WRJM did not take my calls after that. My freedom of speech was terminated.

Today, the left and the right do not want a discussion on merits of any subject, they want to argue, and worse they want the opposition to shut up, and on the talk radio it is no longer the opposition it is the "enemies'.

The military is no longer a place for being open minded, most are so far to the right that it is down right scary that if they had the option.......... Can we trust the military to remain neutral if the chips were down? The organization that was supposed to defend the constitution and thus by extension the human rights defends the human rights abuses, defends illegal wiretaps and spying, illegal detentions and extra judicial punishments. But who cares. a people brought up on the right wing propaganda, and a diet of situation comedies and reality shows is incapable of deep thought.

FREEDOM' S JUST ANOTHER WORD, FOR REAL!

09/18/2009

FREEDOM' S JUST ANOTHER WORD, FOR REAL!

I have previously said, the I use the quotes and examples from the scriptures because most people are familiar with these, not to imply any religious bent or preference on my part.

So it is that Ibrahim asked his father, Noah asked his son to mend their ways, but the men were stubborn. Then it was Lot who told his wife not to look back towards the doomed village bit his wife also did not listen, so what makes me think that anyone really cares about what I have been saying for the past ten, fifteen, twenty or more years.

Last couple of weeks I did not write, not because I am not thinking, or that I do not have an opinion on the matters, but I posted links here to different articles and opinions that only confirm what I have been saying for months and for years.

The world has never had peace, the condition today is abnormal to say the least, some people think what we need is a good war to fix the economy, but today war is cheap , really, we can just send up some missiles, some bombs launched from thousands of miles away and the whole damn affair is over, like I told you before, ( damn I am brave to be talking this crap) that most of what they call the cost of war in Iraq and Afghanistan, is actually monies spent on and by the US in this country and on our own people and their welfare, it does not get out of our hands and supports our own economy.

I mentioned, years ago, that both the Republican and the Democratic policies have the same results and both hurt the United States, if there were any doubt then you can see that both parties are for free trade, for globalization, for free immigration, for the bankers, for the Wall Street, for larger police forces and for suppressing of human rights and the constitution, they are both against privacy and democracy, regardless of their moral (immoral) annunciations.

"2.64": Then you turned back after that; so were it not for the grace of Allah and His mercy on you, you would certainly have been among the losers.

"2.65": And certainly you have known those among you who exceeded the limits of the Sabbath, so We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated.

"2.66": So We made them an example to those who witnessed it and those who came after it, and an admonition to those who guard (against evil).

In the Koran, however, it does not say as (apes), it says "be Apes" but what I have in mind here is something totally different.

Why you think that the man has evolved and the monkeys have not. Most likely because the humans, 1. learned to think and 2/ started to learn from experience, while the monkeys have not.

In 2003, I had mentioned that we do not want everyone to have a house, a car, air conditioning, etc. I was of course talking about the poor in faraway lands, and of average people, to day we are using increased poverty and unemployment to reduce consumption, decrease spending keep the interest rates low in this country.Whatever the government says of the "recovery" is dependent on the government spending which in turn means even larger deficits that will stop any genuine recovery from occurring. And the people become more and more dependent on the government dole. Is it by design?

Look at what has happened to us, as the monkeys spend their days in playing around, waking up, eating, playing, eating lice plucked from each other, and slinging you know what at each other, we have been conditioned to think and accept the same as a preferred form of of our own existence. Look at how our own lives are portrayed in the greatest educational medium ever, the television. As art imitates life imitates art, we see ourselves as a bunch of little hedonistic heathens, clueless, and we have come to accept that as even our own life.

Look at what our reality is, it s "the Hills", "the Survivor", from the girls in trailers reading "COSMO", we have gone to a nation of food stamp recipients watching the food channel. Have we been cursed to be the monkeys?

Look at what is happening in the Islamic world, the starving nation of Iran is making babies and making nukes, Bengladesh, not even on anyone's radar, Pakistan at the brink of disintegration, Afghanistan and Iraq being propped up by American money and American Forces, yet the Muslims still think that the God is on their side and that they are on the brink of "Victory, they don't just not understand the real world, they don't even understand Islam. Yet they are proud.

Even as they suffer at the hands of their own and suffer humiliation at the hands of the "outsiders" they are convinced of their own greatness and their righteousness, bombing each other in the mosques, on purpose, and more particularly on their holy day of Friday. It is all about feeling good, whether screwing each other or killing each other, is it not?

"

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose,
Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free, now now.
And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues,
You know feeling good was good enough for me,
Good enough for me and my Bobby McGee."

SO YOU THINK ME CRAZY

David Kaiser is a respected historian whose published works have covered a broad range of topics, from European Warfare to American League Baseball. Born in 1947, the son of a diplomat, Kaiser spent his childhood in three capital cities: Washington D.C. , Albany , New York , and Dakar , Senegal .. He attended Harvard University , graduating there in 1969 with a B.A. in history. He then spent several years more at Harvard, gaining a PhD in history, which he obtained in 1976. He served in the Army Reserve from 1970 to 1976.
He is a professor in the Strategy and Policy Department of the United States Naval War College. He has previously taught at Carnegie Mellon, Williams College and Harvard University . Kaiser's latest book, The Road to Dallas, about the Kennedy assassination, was just published by Harvard University Press.
[]
Dr. David Kaiser
History Unfolding
I am a student of history. Professionally, I have written 15 books on history that have been published in six languages, and I have studied history all my life. I have come to think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is simply a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten to fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
We learned just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has "loaned" two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the $700 billion we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of "we the people," who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy.. Why?
We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it simply wants marriage to remain defined as between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?) We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is Medicare and our entire government. Our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and I know precisely what I am talking about) - the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth.. It is potentially 1929 x ten...And we are at war with an enemy we cannot even name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who, in turn, cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
And finally, we have elected a man that no one really knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla , Alaska .. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh, of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe are more important.)
Mr. Obama's winning platform can be boiled down to one word: Change. Why?
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.
This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning..
As a serious student of history, I thought I would never come to experience what the ordinary, moral German must have felt in the mid-1930s In those times, the "savior" was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they should have known was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory. Conservative "losers" read it right now.
And there were the promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and frowned and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his "brown shirts" would bully and beat them into submission. Which they did - regularly. And then, he was duly elected to office, while a full-throttled economic crisis bloomed at hand - the Great Depression. Slowly, but surely he seized the controls of government power, person by person, department by department, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The children of German citizens were at first, encouraged to join a Youth Movement in his name where they were taught exactly what to think. Later, they were required to do so. No Jews of course,
How did he get people on his side? He did it by promising jobs to the jobless, money to the money-less, and rewards for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe , and across the world. He did it with a compliant media - did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and .... . .. change. And the people surely got what they voted for.
If you think I am exaggerating, look it up. It's all there in the history books.
So read your history books. Many people of conscience objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and ridiculed. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though. And the world came to regret that he was not listened to.
Do not forget that Germany was the most educated, the most cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And yet, in less than six years (a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency) it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors.. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me..
I choose to believe the evidence. No doubt some people will scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. To some degree, perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe-and why I believe it.
I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am. Perhaps the only hope is our vote in the next elections.

Please allow me to digress from my usual comments about the economy and religion. Were you really impressed or totally unimpressed by the Dr. Rice's testimony to the 9-11 commission.

Here again the public is about to get a snow job. The truth requires answering some real tough questions. Here is a deal, if you know some one on the 9-11 commission or know how to get a hold of them have them ask these questions.

a./ how did an untrained pilot fly a jumbo jet from 7 -8 miles out or more to side of the pentagon, maintaining a very low altitude and without actual visual reference for a long time and made a perfect touch down in the parking lot a hundred yards away or less

b./ how did another untrained pilot make a perfect 180 and came back around, with a thirty degree bank, and 450 knots to hit the second tower

c./ why are we not turning Saddam over to the world court and let them try him in an open court for the whole world to know the truths

d./ in the first WTC bombing, with a truck bomb four stories below ground there were 1300 injuries, with two aircraft blowing up inside the two towers there were less than a thousand injured, How many people really die? How many injured? Why only a thousand?

e./ why did we need B-1 bombers and F-117s in Afghanistan

f./ within hours of the attack we knew all about these guys, how about their friends, relatives, roommates, supporters, and other accessories, Where are they? anyone?

g./ why was NORAD not alerted? why did pentagon not activate its own organic air defenses? why was no national emergency declared? why did Mr. Rumsfeld not leave the pentagon even after it was know that there were aircraft heading for the D.C. area

Just a few questions that I would like an answer to (M.N.R)

A WORD ON IRAQ

A more pertinent question would have been that who in that neighborhood (do we ourselves?) would want Iraq to be a free and Democratic country. It is true that Iraqis have a lot of bad blood and history to deal with within that country, but the outsiders, the Egyptians, the Saudis, the Khaleejis, the Kuwaitis, the Syrians all would rather have Iraq wiped off the face of the earth rather than become a functioning democracy and foment trouble for them at home. Even if Iraqis tried to work together it is in the interest of these countries to keep making trouble among the Iraqi factions, also a democratic Iraq will cause problem for our own great allies at home.

A WORD ON TORTURE

Thank you Lance, I agree, if the topic is torture, then why are we giving the government a pass on renditions, and kidnappings of the “suspects” from third countries. How about the National Security laws in our own country that may subject people to kidnap and being held without even a bare acknowledgment of the fact (without of course any lawyer or even being told of the charges). Were any women held by us or held at our behest raped? what happened to Aafia Siddiqui for instance? Is the release of this torture document just to divert focus from the totality of the foul acts.
